Counsellor and Mental Health Nurse
About Heidy
Heidy, our Mental Health Nurse and Counsellor, works with adult and adolescent clients and has developed her skills over 30 years in a number of therapeutic modalities and in several countries. She has lived and worked in the Netherlands, UK, Vietnam, Laos and in Australia for the last fourteen years.
Heidy has practiced in Relapse Prevention Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Self-Compassion and Mindfulness. She has worked in addiction rehab centres, mental health centres and primary care services, both in individual counselling, family therapy and in group therapy. She has provided counselling for clients with a variety of issues, such as: Addiction; substances and/or other addictive behaviours, (underlying) Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss and Life Crises/Trauma.
Clients are met with presence, kindness, interest and compassionate understanding. They are supported in bringing more awareness and understanding to their experience and (re)actions and to take steps towards a chosen valued direction into a more meaningful and connected life.
Heidy is a registered member with Australian Counselling Association and is credentialed with the Australian Council for Mental Health Nurses. This enables her to have a Medicare Provider Number for item number: 10956.
