LEGO® Group

We offer a one-of-a-kind LEGO® group program led by skilled therapists to foster various social and emotional skills. We use LEGO® building exercises to enhance communication, collaboration and critical thinking/problem solving abilities along with improving fine motor skills.
The LEGO® program follows a structured approach aimed at fostering social communication skills rather than simply providing children with bricks to build freely (although, we know there are certainly benefits to that too!).
Children are empowered to make decisions and take on collaborative roles. Rotating roles of 'engineer,' 'supplier', and 'builder', this teamwork approach cultivates skills like turn-taking, teamwork, and negotiation, with the therapist serving as a facilitator and guide.
Groups run for 1 hour weekly for 5 weeks.
You can use your NDIS funding (Capacity Building) to attend the LEGO® Group Program. We recommend confirming this with your plan manager beforehand.
Although widely enjoyed by children, the LEGO® Group Program benefits extend to teenagers and adults as well. We customize the sessions according to the age and specific needs of each group.
Fun with Feelings Group for children 4-8 years old

Fun with Feelings
Our “Fun with Feelings” group has a child component as well as a parent/caregiver component.
The program aims to assist children on the autism spectrum in understanding their feelings and thoughts, as well as recognising the emotional states of others. This program is designed to be enjoyable for children. Children will have the opportunity to meet the main feelings, all of whom are represented by fun fruit characters:
Happy – Henry the Honeydew
Sad – Sally the Strawberry
Worry – Wanda the Watermelon
Relaxed – Ryan the Raspberry
Anger – Allan the Apple
Love – Lulu the Lemon
Children component
Via these characters, children will learn the 6 key feelings and how to recognise, process and regulate their emotions. They will learn to identify when these feelings arise in their bodies and how to manage them. By increasing emotional understanding, this program aims to enhance the child's resilience.
Family/Caregiver component
This program aims to deepen parent/caregiver understanding of your child and equip you with effective approaches and specific strategies to manage and reduce your child's anxiety at home. It also empowers parents/caregivers to help your child understand and express their feelings. You will gain knowledge of the latest research and best clinical practices for autism and anxiety in young children. You will learn to recognise and assess both conventional signs of anxiety in young children and signs of anxiety specific to children on the autism spectrum. Additionally, you will understand the reasons that children on the autism spectrum often experience high levels of anxiety. You will have the opportunity to learn to implement environmental accommodations and strategies to reduce anxiety for your child across various settings, including within and outside of the home. You will also gain insights into why your child experiences emotions in an intense manner and learn strategies to help your child understand and cope with these emotions, including positive ones.
Session Plan and Frequency
The sessions will be held weekly during school terms and will alternate between focusing on parents/caregivers and children each week.
Goals targeted:
• Assist in reducing levels of anxiety.
• Increase understanding of feelings and emotions.
• Facilitate the development of emotional regulation.
Expressive Therapy Program

At Bell Psychology Services, Expressive Therapy combines psychology and the creative process to promote wellbeing. We use the modalities of art, music, play, dance and drama therapy. Expressive Therapy uniquely combines all creative modalities in the one setting – thus providing children with the flexibility to choose their preferred way to express what may be difficult to convey with words.
Our approach is underpinned by an understanding of early intervention, the proven healing powers of the expressive arts and the incredible ability of the brain to change itself – called neuroplasticity. For children with limited language skills and vocabularies, and particularly for children impacted by trauma, and may be unable to put thoughts into speech, expression through art, music, movement, or play empowers them to express themselves without boundaries or need for words.
Our program is open to children between the ages of 6-15 years with groups separated into 6-10 year olds and 11-15 year olds to ensure relevance.
We encourage children to develop their thoughts and feelings further by drawing, painting, sculpting and constructing.
The program differs from traditional art in that the emphasis is on the process of creating rather than the end project. Their work is not judged and art ability is not necessary.
At Bell Psychology it is not about being good at drama. Instead, it offers the potential to creatively explore and express difficult emotions in a safe and contained way. In the dramatherapy space, children are invited to use various creative processes to explore an issue or feeling. We might create stories, step into imaginary worlds, embody characters, play with small objects or explore the real-life experiences through dramatic representation. In play therapy, children participate in structured and unstructured activities that help them express their thoughts and feelings, explore relationships and share their experiences.
